AIRPORT MARINE’S FIFTH ANNUAL LAY LAKE CHARITY BASS TOURNAMENT
PARADISE POINT MARINA SATURDAY, MAY 28 2011

There were 180 boats entered in Saturday’s (Memorial Day Weekend), “Airport Marine’s
5th Annual Lay Lake Charity Bass Tournament” held May 28, 2011 out of Paradise Point
Marina at mid lake. All of these, “hundreds of anglers” were competing in hot,
low-ninety degree temperatures for a chance at winning thousands of dollars in pay
outs and lots of bonus money as well! Here’s how it went;

* LAUNCH WHEREVER YOU WANT
First of all in this very unique bass tournament you could launch your boat (if you
were pre registered) any where on the lake. Make your first cast of the day at 5:30
a.m. Central time, then quit fishing at 3 p.m. and then you had one hour to be back
at the weight in site at Paradise Point Marina to weigh your fish by 4 p.m.!

* FIRST – THIRD
It was close, very close. The winning weights, just from first place to third place
was only separated with about 1 1/2 pounds! With 75 guaranteed paid out places, it
took a little over 15 pounds just to get in the money!

* ZERO WEIGHT
At least half, of the over “300 angler field” wisely turned in a zero weight ticket.
Meaning, even if they had 15 pounds or less (a good day – 5 three pound bass!),
there was still no use in them standing in a bag line (in the low, 90 degree heat
for over 30 minutes) and then standing in a weigh in line, there was no use weighing
your estimated weight. This decision then put their names in a “zero weight box” for
a prize drawing of $1000!

Oh, but that’s not all in this very unique, one-of-a-kind annual Lay lake bass
tournament! Meaning…more money!

* FIFTY – $500 GIVEAWAYS
Yes, you read it right. They gave away 50 – $500 cash prizes! No other bass
tournament does this! Even if you did not catch a bass, both you and your fishing
partner had a chance at being one of fifty lucky anglers (one angler won two!) that
took home an envelope containing $500 cash! More? A lot more…money$ !

* FIRST PLACE TEAM
The first place team can be very proud. They competed against some of the Alabama’s
(and the South’s) best, bass anglers and they can now say they beat them all, with 5
big bass weighing 20.20 pounds! Harry Barton and Blake Parker took home $5000 for
their hard earned sack of bass! Congratulations!

* TOURNAMENT VIDEO – You will be able to see this tournament weigh-in and a live
interview with the first place winners describing how they won this tournament,
where they fished, and what lures they used! It will be posted later on this week on
www.anglerschannel.com

* SECOND PLACE TEAM
Coming in for a very close second place finish with 5 bass weighing 19.94 pounds was
the team of Wes Crim and Tommy Mcdonald. (Only.26 pounds out of first place!) They
took home a nice $1000 payday. Including a big bass payout with the tournaments
biggest largemouth bass, weighing 6.43 pounds!

* THIRD PLACE TEAM
Chad Thompson and Jeff Ford brought in 5 bass weighing 19.61 pounds for another
close top 3 finish, taking third place overall.

* FOURTH PLACE TEAM
Taking home the fourth place money, in addition qualifying for the “$5000 bonus
bucks” provided by Airport Marine of Clanton, Alabama (see www.airportmarine.com)
was the team of Ricky Spratlin and Allisan Spratlin for being the highest placing
team and owners of a recent qualifying boat bought at Airport Marine within the last
two years!

* THANKS!
Our Thanks goes out to all the participants, Airport Marine, their staff and their
tournament director, Flynn Gerald! All that put out so much effort (especially
Flynn!) to make this Lay Lake 5th Annual Charity Bass Tournament happen. You can see
the results along with pictures of this tournament at www.airportmarinetrails.com

* AIRPORT MARINE’S NEXT FEW TOURNAMENTS
Airport Marine’s next open bass tournament on their summer trail is a SOLO
TOURNAMENT to be held at Lay lake Saturday, Jun 25. They also have an E Z Solo
Trail (anglers fishing alone), on Lay lake on Wednesday, June 8. Both tournaments
are being held out of Paradise Point Marina at mid lake. Airport Marine’s next
summertime buddy format, (plus parent & child and couples pay-outs) tournament on
their summer trail is to be held on Lay lake Saturday, July 9 out of Paradise Point
Marina.
