SEVEN LAKES IN TWO WEEKS - LOGAN MARTIN LAKE FOR BIG BASS IN THE FALL!
Although my early fall season travels took me to the lower Coosa River Lake’s Jordan Lake, Mitchell Lake and Lay lake, enjoying the topwater bites with out of town clients of Reeds Guide Service (tackling those vicious Coosa River spotted bass), just recently I have guided on upper Coosa River lake’s in north Alabama like Weiss Lake, Neely Henry Lake and Logan Martin Lake.
This includes trips to north Alabama’s Tennessee River impoundment’s Wheeler lake, Wilson Lake and Pickwick lakes (the latter two lakes produced two smallmouth bass over 5 pounds!). Including a trip to Bankhead lake located on the Warrior River System near Birmingham, with two very energetic and young teenage boys (one’s birthday gift!) fooling spotted bass, largemouth bass and striped bass!

A RECENT GUIDED TRIP TO LOGAN MARTIN LAKE
We launched at Riverside boat launch on a foggy morning. Convenient for two anglers that drove right to the lake on I-20 coming from Stone Mountain Georgia, located near Atlanta. Neither angler had ever been to Logan Martin lake and they just wanted to fish a half day for whatever bites!
So with the morning fog it was best we just fished nearby and its good we did! Idling the boat to spots close by we caught some nice bass on topwater lures like Sammies and Zara spooks. Shallow diving Spro crank baits also proved to do very well fooling both spotted bass and white bass in the mouths of nearby creeks and smaller pockets.
As the fog lifted, their day was almost over with it getting close to 10 a.m. But one last spot produced spotted bass, largemouth bass and some white bass and stripers. The I-20 bridge!
We used 1/4 ounce Hopkins jigging spoons fooling fish after fish for about an hour. Still it was now 10 a.m. and they rather reluctantly had to be back in Atlanta before 1 p.m. so we called it a day. At least they did. I dropped them off at the Riverside boat launch, shook hands and then watched them drive away, happy with over a dozen bass all caught in 4 hours of fishing!
Me, I just went back to fooling those bass nearby at the bridge until about 2 p.m. then I too headed for home. Always call on Reeds Guide Service…first!
