TOPWATER AT DAWN…
With water temperatures nearing 90 degrees and air temperatures
predicted to be in the upper 90′s this week calls for getting on the water
before sunup.This helps increase your chances of fooling both big Largemouth
bass and Spotted bass too!
Here’s how;
* Largemouth Bass love Lay lake’s weedy waters. Fishing both buzz
baits along weed edges and frogs right up in the weeds on heavy line and long
flipping rods, will get a better hook set. Also try heavy line in he 20
pound test if fishing monofilament or fluorocarbon. Try 30 -50 pound test
braided line too! Some largemouth bass, spotted bass and even stripers are
schooling at dawn.
* Spotted bass are relating to current on main lake flats, around
islands, along points, the mouths of creeks and on old roadbeds, those places
that are bathed in all day current. (Check 1-800-lakes-11 for water generation
schedules and be there!)
Both mid running and deep diving crankbaits are good lure choices.
On bottom try jig combos, tube baits, creature baits and small finesse worms.
Schooling bass will hit Zara Spooks, Baby Torpedoes and Sammies especially
at dawn. These can be good lure choices for big spotted bass as well!
Always have sharp hooks!
