Summertime - Day and Night Bass Fishing Tips and Summertime Articles For Alabama’s Guntersville Lake and Lay Lake!

The summertime months of June, July and August (and at times on into the month of September), typically display sweltering air temperatures of over 90 degrees (often near 100 degrees), as another humid, Alabama summer season lingers on.
Bass anglers have two choices. Either they can find a way to conquer the summer daytime heat (like a quick dip in the lake!), or as many daytime anglers do, they can resort to fishing under the stars at night. After the hot, summer sun goes down.
There are two very weedy, man made Impoundments in Alabama, both that fit the bill for some, “Excellent Summertime Bass Fishing” and this holds true, whether you choose to fish for bass during the day or fish for bass during the nocturnal hours. Both lakes stay at or near near full pool all summer long!
These two lakes are; North Alabama’s Tennessee River Impoundment, Guntersville Lake Impounded in 1939 and mid-Alabama’s Coosa River Impoundment, Lay Lake (now celebrating 100 years since its impoundment), impounded in 1914.
As owner (on both lakes and all other Alabama lakes), of the oldest, professional “bass fishing only” guide service, Reeds Guide Service, guiding on both Guntersville lake and Lay lake — for over 40 years — I have fished and guided on both lakes during the hot, daytime hours and the much cooler nighttime fishing trips for many, many years.
