By the time the Fourth of July weekend occurs, anglers targeting the three Alabama bass species largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and spotted bass have many choices. Not only in the selection of the various species of bass they choose to go after on any Summertime outing in various lakes found from north to south Alabama. But how they go about it as well.
Included would have to be; the many ways these astute bass anglers approach each and every bass species, the lures they use, the depths they select to entice the bites and the many differant summertime patterns found at any given time now available for the next 2-3 months!
Our many man made reservoirs such as those lakes located on the Tennessee River System in the Northwest portion of the state Guntersville Lake, Wheeler Lake , Wilson Lake and Pickwick Lakes all have a lot to offer. From fishing with various types of topwater lures around shallow weeds and wood cover for shallow summertime bass to dredging bass out of the deep water.
Both Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth bass can be found lakewide on all four of these Tennessee River Impoundments.
Spotted Bass can be discovered on any Alabama lake this summer and the Coosa River System has six lakes to offer bass anglers true, trophy-sized spotted bass, some in the 5-7 pound range! The Coosa River Lakes featured from north to south Alabama are Weiss Lake, Neely Henry Lake, Logan Martin Lake, Lay Lake, Mitchell lake and Jordan lake. But there are many other lakes for bass anglers to visit this summer season throughout Alabama, whether they choose to fish during the hot, daytime hours or under the stars at night…when its much cooler!
The Warrior River System featuring Bankhead Lake located near Birmingham or Lake Demopolis on the Tombigbee River System in south Alabama. Lake Eufaula on the Alabama / Georgia state lines. Or the Tallapoosa River System lake’s like Lake Harris or Lake Martin located in mid Alabama.
